This is Matthew Charles Mullenweg, an American programmer who was born in Houston, Texas, on January 11, 1984.
It is the creator of the centralized spam filtering service Akismet, the Automattic company, from the free WordPress blog hosting service and, of course, from its own content management system, WordPress.
In June of 2002, Matt used the b2/cafelog content manager to publish photographs he took during a trip to Washington DC to participate in the National Fed Challenge.
Then he contributed some code to fix spelling mistakes and clean permanent links, which made him start to get interested in CMS.
When finishing the development of b2, in January 2003, Matt announced on his blog that he was going to create a fork that would be updated to web standards and modify it for his own needs.
Then, Mike Little talked to him and negotiated to create a society, with which they created WordPress from the source code of b2. Shortly after, from the original developer of b2, Michel Valdrighi joined them.
