Virtual learning, also known as e-learning, refers to a learning process that takes place through digital platforms and information and communication technologies (ICT). Among the virtual learning challenges can be mentioned:

- Edmodo: is an LMS platform that focuses on K-12 education (primary and secondary) and offers tools for course creation, student interaction and evaluation.
- Coursera: is an online learning platform that offers online courses and programs from universities and organizations around the world. The courses are designed to be completed in a specific period of time and are offered in collaboration with academic institutions.
- Udemy: is an online learning platform that offers online courses created for instructors from all over the world. Most of the courses are of short duration and are available to take at any time.
- Khan Academy: is a free online learning platform that offers courses in mathematics, science and other subjects for students of all ages. The courses are available online and in a mobile application.
